About Me

I am a southern girl at heart. Born a Floridian and will leave this world as one. Also, born to a family of wonderful cooks. Therefore, there is nothing I feel I can't cook.
I have a blog that I started to talk about the wonderful places in the Carolinas to eat.

I love food. I love the presentation and the look of food. I like to show people kindness and fellowship through food.

Hence, my desire to dissect those who like myself feel they can cook, and provide you with a wonderful dining experience.

My circle of friends and family are always asking me about recipes and where are some good places to eat. As if I knew their taste and/or the Carolinas like that.

Well, I have decided to know them well. And, my blog is all about what the casual and fine dining scene provides....what they don't
provide....and, how to find that quaint little spot that provides the best experience to our palates. I will explore it all. I will even get into ranking some of the best places out there....or the best dishes.

And, if there are some excellent caterers out there I won't miss mentioning them also. Please read and come back often.

My kids....I haven't always been the best Mom. But, there is no manual. And, sometimes we fail. The best part is when the sun comes up in the morning you get to try it all over again.

Looking like her Daddy....but, such a beautiful young lady. Couldn't be more proud of a daughter.....

Lauren was/is always the happy one in the bunch. Such the positive one. I am so proud of her.....as she takes this plight through life.

My Education.....

My high school is Newberry High School....and we were the Panthers.

It was not always the place of higher education but, it was my high school.
I was Student Government President....
Voted "Most Likely To Succeed," "Most Popular," Most School Spirit, and Most Friendliest."

My best friends were Cindy Bass, Carmen Jeffcoat, and Acquelyn Lumpkin. My favorite cousin was Michael Nattiel.

Spelman College is where I learn to love who I was. Where I became proud of my background and culture. Where I discovered we as a culture were successful people....and abundantly successful. A powerful first step it was for me.

I loved Spelman. My first introduction to Black Colleges. Sure there was FAMU and BCC where my Mother attended but, Spelman was different. It held women to higher goals and standards. And, it is where I learned to survive. It's where I became me. Some hard lessons...but necessary.

This is a great first family picture. A symbol of what we should all strive to be. And, that is a great couple....a compromising couple. A couple that knows their true destiny is to become great parents.

My Mother lost her life to cancer in 2004. God rest her soul. Please keep with the Angels. This is the first time I have actually written that fact down as apart of my history. Still hard to deal with....to fathom. But, she is gone and I must continue the legacy. I have a long way to go.

Was in Charlotte and Juan. Tried to give him the don't give up speech. We all have to crawl before we can walk. I am still crawling myself. But, the light is at the end of the tunnel from where I started from.....

This picture is when I realize I was near to accomplishing
my weight loss goal.

My new workout look....

My Freshman Reading teacher at Spelman. A mean lady at the time. But, very graceful and intelligent.

A picture of my Mom who was really into basketball. She played and she coached. Here, she is the coach and if I am not mistaken she won the Florida State Championship with this team. This picture was posted in a glass case at Archer Elementary. When I went to visit it was just kept in a box in the library.

My Mother and her 6th Grade Class....and that's Coach Janes next to her. This picture really epitomizes my Mom in the classroom.

This is Ms Bradshaw on the left. She was a favorite teacher of mine. I loved her demeanor and she really looked after me and encouraged me to be the best I could. I am still trying Ms Bradshaw.
